Océ Software Laboratories Namur (OSL) neutralizes the CO² emissions of his airplane business trips! OSL develops software products for the Océ group, but also for his own channels of sale. These products are software packages, solutions and services with high added value.
 As a R&D centre, OSL is responsible for definition, development, insurance quality, and pre- & post-sales services of software commercialized by Océ subsidiaries.The software development is not in itself a polluting activity but by the international character of the group, the personnel of OSL travels regularly by airplane. When it is possible, video / web / television conferences allow to avoid some displacements by car or airplane. This rationalization notably allowed in 2007 to reduce the number of plane tickets by 42 % in comparison with 2006. OSL decided to make even better: completely offset the CO2 emissions of his trips by air from 2007 to assure their neutrality. OSL called upon the expertise of CO2logic and their carbon reducing projects, which are certified by United Nations. The sustainable and ecological project, which is supported by OSL, is located in Rajasthan, in the North of India. It produces green renewable electricity from biomass through purchasing the local farmers agricultural waste (stalks and pods of mustard, ears of corn). This action shows the commitment of the society, at its level, for sustainable development, just like contributions requested by everyone, to the benefit of our planet and his citizens. |
